Iota Communications: A Review of 2023

Posted by: IotaComm

“Pleased, but Never Satisfied”

As we bid farewell to another eventful year, it’s time to reflect on the remarkable journey of Iota Communications throughout 2023. The year proved to be a pivotal one for the company, marked by significant achievements, strategic partnerships, technological advancements, and expanded horizons in the realm of IoT (Internet of Things) solutions.

As we look back on the milestones that shaped IotaComm’s trajectory over the past year, the words of our Chief Operating Officer, Charlie Thiel, seem especially poignant: Pleased, but Never Satisfied. Charlie’s words accurately reflect the spirit of everyone at IotaComm: 2023 was great and it laid the foundation to achieve so much more in 2024:

1. IotaComm and FINTECH.TV Partner to Establish the Center for Sustainable Innovation

One of the standout moments of 2023 was the strategic partnership between Iota Communications and FINTECH.TV to establish the Center for Sustainable Innovation (CSI). This joint venture of IotaComm and FINTECH.TV puts thoughts to action and demonstrates the commitment of delivering upon the Core Values and Mission of both companies to positively impact communities across the world. Stay tuned for exciting announcements in 2024 of new projects in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Arizona in 2024 from CSI that bring sustainable technology to improve the lives of citizens in these states!

2. New Executive Leadership Team at IotaComm

In 2023, Iota Communications underwent a revitalizing re-launch, marking a significant turning point for the company. This strategic realignment aimed to reinvigorate our approach to executing IotaComm’s Strategy, Vision and Mission. New talent was brought into the executive team from diverse industries, introducing fresh perspectives and a breadth of expertise. Combined with the extremely talented team already in place at IotaComm, the stage was reset for growth in 2023 and the years to come.

3. Achievement of Obtaining FCC Certification of Dual-Band Gateway

IotaComm celebrated a significant milestone by obtaining FCC certification for our Dual-Band low power, wide area networking (LPWAN) gateway, operating at both unlicensed 915 MHz and licensed 800 MHz frequencies. Representing over 3 years of development, this achievement was a key development that enabled us to introduce the world’s only terrestrial LoRaWAN services over licensed spectrum in November 2023 (see number 8 below). This achievement is tangible proof of our commitment to delivering cutting-edge IoT solutions. Further, it positions IotaComm in the unique position to provide licensed LoRaWAN solutions in the U.S., significantly expanding our scope within the LPWAN IoT market.

4. Launch of Next Generation Delphi360

Iota Communications launched the next generation of our Internet of Things Application Enablement Platform, Delphi360. With this launch, Delphi360 introduced enhanced functionalities, a more user-friendly interface, and set the stage for introducing even greater capabilities in 2024, such as the integration of AI. Delphi360 now enables more applications in more vertical markets, including Smart Spaces, Smart Territories and Smart Infrastructure.

5. Major New Customer and Partner in Allentown School District

No better recognition of the value IotaComm’s products and services exists than the acquisition of customers. In October 2023, IotaComm was (and still is!) extremely pleased by the signing of our major new customer, the Allentown School District (ASD). ASD wanted a partner to help achieve their goals of improving student outcomes and health, while increasing equity and access to technology. We are thrilled that ASD chose IotaComm to deliver our Indoor Environmental Quality solution to 6 schools, with more expected to come in 2024-25.

6. Officially Added to PEPPM 2024 Product Line Bid

PEPPM (Pennsylvania Educational Purchasing Program for Microcomputers) is a nationwide bidding service that helps educational institutions lower costs of acquisitions for technology products. In December, IotaComm was extremely pleased to announce being officially added to the PEPPM 2024 Product Line Bid! This significant achievement reinforced IotaComm’s position as a trusted provider of IoT solutions to K-12 schools, dramatically increases our brand positioning in this space and, most importantly, reduces the friction and barriers for K-12 schools throughout the US to adopt our innovative solutions.

7. LoRa Alliance Media Day at Smart Cities Expo World Congress

IotaComm is a proud member of the LoRa Alliance and we continually seek ways to leverage our membership to maximize our market reach. As such, we were absolutely thrilled to be chosen as one of only 8 LoRa Alliance member companies to participate in the LoRa Alliance Media Day at the Smart Cities Expo World Congress (SCEWC) on November 8th, 2023. SCEWC is one of the largest Smart Cities events in the world and our inclusion tremendously increased IotaComm’s market reach and brand awareness. An example: 143 organizations picked up our Press Release on the Beta Availability of our one-of-a-kind licensed 800 MHz LoRaWAN solution. Our partnership with the LoRa Alliance and participation in SCEWC showcased IotaComm as a global leader in innovating LoRaWAN for Smart Cities.

8. 800 MHz Beta Availability Announcement

On November 8th, 2023, IotaComm announced the launch of our FCC-licensed 800 MHz Spectrum IoT service powered by LoRaWAN. This marked a pivotal moment for IotaComm. As previously mentioned, licensed 800 MHz LoRaWAN is the crown jewel of our portfolio and our largest differentiator: nobody else in the world can offer terrestrial licensed LoRaWAN solutions. Representing years of work, and aided by partnerships with the LoRa Alliance, Semtech, Tektelic, Connected Development and Senet, the importance of this achievement cannot be overstated. Licensed 800 MHz LoRaWAN uniquely enables IotaComm to deliver both massive and critical IoT applications with Quality of Service and Service Level Agreement capability. We are now positioned for significant revenue growth within Smart Spaces, Smart Territories and Smart Infrastructure. And we won’t be doing it alone as 800 MHz LoRaWAN opens up tremendous opportunities to increase market share through partnerships with the LoRaWAN ecosystem. Look out LPWAN market – IotaComm is on the prowl!

In conclusion, 2023 was a year of remarkable growth, strategic collaborations, technological advancements, and expanded market presence for Iota Communications. As we begin 2024, we are excited about our future! We remain committed to pioneering innovative IoT solutions, forging strategic partnerships, and helping communities in their journey towards a sustainable and equitable future.

We still have a lot of work to do, though we look forward to an even more successful 2024!

Pleased, but Never Satisfied!
